Monk, a pioneering force in the creation of the electronic dance music (EDM) scene, is celebrated as the co-founder of the groundbreaking project Rabbit in the Moon alongside David Christophere. As one of the first EDM acts to gain international recognition, Rabbit in the Moon captivated audiences worldwide, performing in major cities such as Amsterdam, London, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. RITM also made history as the original headliner at ULTRA Music Festival, setting the standard for live electronic performances on the global stage.

Monk’s passion for music began early, collecting vinyl records from the age of five and never parting with a single one. Wherever his travels took him, he made a point to visit local record shops, often buying over a hundred vinyl’s at a time. Before and After Sound Lab now houses over 14,000 rare and foundational vinyl records from Monk’s lifetime collection. A legendary DJ’s personal archive, spanning the evolution of electronic and multi-genre music across decades. This collection is arguably one of the most important in EDM history.

Starting as a vinyl DJ, Monk’s signature style grew from the vinyl era to the modern digital age, maintaining his authentic sound and deep connection to the roots of EDM. Monk has been at the forefront of the underground music scene, performing at iconic festivals like EDC, Ultra, Zen Fest, Zoolu, Nocturnal Wonderland and many others. He has collaborated with major artists, remixing tracks for Britney Spears, Limp Bizkit, Sting and many other platinum-selling artists. His innovative approach to blending underground and mainstream sounds has cemented his status as an influential figure in dance music.

Now, Monk brings his decades of experience and unmatched passion to Before and After Sound Lab. He chose for his legendary vinyl collection to be shared and showcased for interactive use, offering members a rare, exclusive hands-on experience with some of the sounds that shaped electronic music history. As a mentor and industry expert, Monk provides invaluable insights, bridging the gap between the genre’s rich past and its dynamic future. His collection now stands as a living archive of dance music history, at the Before & After Sound Lab a treasure trove for upcoming artists seeking to understand the genre’s roots.
